Disforia was formed in the winter of 2007. Since it's creation, the band has evolved into one of Utah's most promising Progressive Metal bands to date. Disforia combines many modern and classic influences to bring forth a brand new flavor to the metal scene. Disforia has released their debut album "Our Time Defined". The album features epic, and escalated chord progressions, along with detailed and spirit filled lyrics. The strongest song on the album is "Of Wolves And Men"-it has a wonderful intro with faded, ancient vocals dancing over distortion and heartbeat-drumming. The guitar solo in the bridge is both hypnotic and haunting. Vocalist John Yelland is a force to be reckoned with, and conjures memories of Dream Theater with his soaring strength, but he would benefit from less cliche and more poetic, visual lyrics. The band's use of keyboards is interesting without being overwhelming, peppering the songs in very appropriate places. While the drumming and bass are both solid, in the name of progressive metal, they could both be taken further, creatively speaking. Disforia's new album "Our Time Defined" blends the best of the local music scene with the progressive metal sound that will soon define Utah's metal scene. Disforia has one of the best up and coming sounds that anyone in Utah would hope to stumble upon. My two favorite tracks off of this album are "Our Time Defined" and "Children of the Stars". The dynamic melodies and breath taking cord progressions you will find in these tracks are quite amazing. "Our Time Defined" their debut album comes fully equipped with amazing graphical art work by Austin Bentley. The debut album has six tracks total on it .
